More than 600m Euros already pledged in massive fundraising drive to rebuild Notre Dame.
But with an estimated cost of several billion pounds more will be needed.
Much money has been pledged by billionaires, charities, companies and individuals ready to help rebuild and repair Notre Dame after yesterdays devastating fire.
The eye watering sum has been raised less than 24 hours after fire ravaged France’s world famous cathedral.
Many companies are among the household names which have declared they will give tens of millions of euros to help.
Bernard Arnault who is France and Europe’s richest man (reported to be worth £69bn) has pledged €200m, while François-Henri Pinault, the billionaire fashion boss of Hollywood star Salma Hayek, is to write a check for €100m (£86m).
Smaller donations are expected to flood in as part of a national subscription scheme launched by president Emmanuel Macron.
The country’s Fondation du Patrimoine, which works to protect French heritage, said it would be starting an international appeal.
But even more may well be needed. Early estimates suggest rebuilding of the cathedral will cost 7 Billion Euros while President Macron has pledged to get it done within 5 years.
