When we think about the evolution of the stone construction techniques used by our ancestors, we instinctively think they began with more crude walls built from roughly chiseled blocks, full of gaps and imperfections, developing these skills over time as tools & technology improve to build horizontally squared more advanced stone working.
However the truth is completely the opposite, when we look around ruins and remains in South America, we are confronted with some of the most flamboyant, if not the most boastful manipulations of monolithic stones to be found anywhere on our planet. The more complex and stable (earthquake proof) walls being built before even the Inca civilization came into being, indeed the Incas themselves state that the ancient ruins that they built upon were constructed by a people long before them.
You don’t need to travel to these places to let it all inspire you but the idea that recorded history has big chunks missing from it does beg the question.. who came before us? In the many millennia predating our still young 2000 year dose of recorded historical context.. who are we really descended from?
