I never knew this but apparently – when this song was produced, experts thought that it’ll be a hit. Though, once it hit the radio, stations noticed that people tend to switch the channel when this song came out, it was a relatively new genre and no one loved it. Months later, and with the help of advertisement geniuses, a tactic was used that sandwiched this song between popular songs like Beyonce’s “Baby Boy” and Timberlake’s “Like I Love You”, forcing people into listening to this song. This tactic lead “Hey Ya” to be the hit we all now know it to be. Source: “The Power of Habit” by Charles Duhigg
Now I don’t remember any of the marketing for this song just how big it was when it hit MTV.
