It is a chilly Monday morning in early March and I am once again reading stories about how the rise of racism and its use by the populist governments.
An Idiot President – Or Is He?
Donald Trump has openly shown racism with his fast and flippant remarks. Widely portrayed as an idiot but clearly using the mass media for his own ends to portray the divisions that make him powerful.
Trump On People Of Mexican Heritage
For an example of Trump’s racism we don’t need to look far: In May 2016 President Trump implied that Gonzalo Curiel, the federal judge presiding over a class action against the for-profit Trump University, could not fairly hear the case because of his Mexican heritage.
Lets get this straight; Trump was selling fake diplomas in business studies – complaints were openly made by many students that the course lacked any real content and left students heavily in debt – with Trump paying off many before even reaching court.
“He’s a Mexican,” Trump told the news. “We’re building a wall between here and Mexico. The answer is, he is giving us very unfair rulings — rulings that people can’t even believe.”
It has to be stated that Curiel is clearly an American citizen who was born in Indiana. And as a prosecutor in the late 1990s, he went after Mexican drug cartels, making him a brave man and a target for assassination by a mafia drug lord.
Even members of Trump’s own party slammed the racist remarks.
“Claiming a person can’t do their job because of their race is sort of like the textbook definition of a racist comment,” House Speaker Paul Ryan
This is just one example of many where the US President openly states racist remarks or uses racist statements to cause divisions between people – these tactics have been used in the past by fascist leaders intent on attaining control by feeding peoples fears.
Trump On Black Americans
Donald Trump in 2017 replied to a tweet accusing him of stoking racism by reiterating his campaign slogan: “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The potty President was replying to a tweet sharing a Washington Post article accusing him of attacking prominent African Americans “to feed his supporters’ belief that the system is rigged for minorities.”
“Trump’s rage-tweets about LaVar Ball are part of a pattern,” Greg Sargent, the author of the opinion piece tweeted.

But..
What Happened To Black Lives Matter?
One thing that has puzzled me since President Trump has come to power is the sudden disappearance from news headlines of anything to do with Black Lives Matter. It still exists bigly (as Trump would say)..
Black Lives Matter Is Still Going On
Good Morning, Happy Friday!
I wanted to leave you all with something empowering!!#blacklivesmatter #Blackisbeautiful pic.twitter.com/RdpS8ZEFx6— En Conjunto (@EnConjuntoOrg) April 5, 2019
So the movement is still active but while you would think they would become more prominent in the news with the rise of a racist president the opposite has happened.
Could it possibly be that people were feeding stories into the news – using Black Lives Matter as a way to attack the then President Obama? Indeed Barack Obama was the no.1 target for daily headlines based at attacking his legitimacy to rule and even his American citizenship.
The same way Trump has used mass coverage in the news to become President it is equally possible that he would use the same tactics to attack his predecessor. The question is who has been helping him to do that and why?
